Expressions Collection

In this collection, I integrated parts of the body that I find to be the most expressive (hands and facial features) into my garments as a way to bring the individuality of human features into my clothing. I also created a character, Sonny, as a motif to be translated onto textiles as a print.

I feel that hand made textiles have become a lost art, and that mass produced fabric patterns have lost the charm and creativity they used to have. By incorporating hand painting and hand drawing directly onto my textiles, I can connect the gap between 2D and 3D art while bringing my fashion illustrations and character designs into the real world. I hand drew the Sonny print onto a white cotton twill weave and hand painted the detail and background colors. I used this textile to create a suit jacket and skirt set which you can see on the Garment Designs page!
