Playtime! Thesis Collection

Playtime! is a thesis collection exploring dress up and play for both adults and children. Using relaxed silhouettes, second hand yarn, and custom textiles and buttons, the collection transports wearers to a time in their lives when clothing was comfortable, colorful, and fun. Garments can be easily altered using snaps and buttons, allowing the wearer to customize their appearance. 

The collection includes five mix-and-match looks, two pairs of handmade shoes, a pair of knit socks, and a found object embellished bag, accompanied by a plush doll of the Cat Mednick brand mascot Goober and an illustrated sticker sheet. Playtime! invites people of all ages to experiment with self expression and reawaken the joy of playing!

Look 1

Machine knit bloomers and sleeves, custom printed textile, hand crochet doll head button covers.

Look 2

Machine knit skirt, sleeves, and socks, hand drawn print, crochet waist appliqués, hand sewn cat appliqué patch, screen printed shirt patch, 3D printed buttons and zipper pulls. The apron can be worn up or down!

Look 3

Hand drawn print, crochet appliqué polka dots and caterpillar, crochet collar and sleeve caps, hand carved fish button. Paired with custom handmade shoes of second hand leather and custom 3D printed buckles.

Look 4

Custom Goober print, hand sewn Goober appliqué, and handmade wooden buttons. These overalls use snaps to become a skirt or pants. Handmade shoes using custom Goober printed canvas and custom 3D printed buckles.

Look 5

Hand drawn print, handmade wooden star and doll face embellishments, second hand shell beads, handmade wooden buttons. This playsuit uses buttons to be worn as separates or one piece.

Dolly Dress Up Sweater

The Dolly Dress up sweater is a white and pink cardigan with plush hangers holding snap-on miniature clothing. The plush doll on the back has matching snaps which allow Dolly to wear the clothing being held on the front. The sleeves have a custom fair isle floral print and random second hand shell beads stitched to the knit.
